[texinfo-pretest] Problems with spanish update

I have read somewere that texinfo macros break hyphenation and this
leaves raggerd-right as the only possible layout.

I assume you're talking about non-English languages. Certainly US
English aka \language0 hyphenation still works.

I've never done it, and haven't heard from anyone who has, but I expect
it would be possible to enable hyphenation in other languages by running
a version of TeX which has another set of hyphenation patterns as the
default, one way or another.

However, accented characters would still inhibit hyphenation, unless
lots of texinfo.tex changes were made to support other fonts. I've
received various patches along those lines over the years, but nothing I
could ever actually apply. A TeX hacker friend of mine said he might be
able to work on that specific job this summer -- we'll see :).

(anyway, it is possible, though certainly not typographically nice, to
set justified paragraphs without hyphenation. I've seen it done.)

Best,
karl
